Brandon Alexander

Brandon Alexander is literally a child of the Alexandria City Public Schools.

With a mother who was an ACPS teacher at Cora Kelly magnet school, Brandon was always focused on his academics.
After elementary school, Brandon excelled at T.C. Williams.  A natural leader and gifted athlete, Brandon was a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society, in addition to earning All-American status on the track team.

Brandon was introduced to the world of business at T.C.  After graduation, he went on to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating in 2003 with a B.S. in economics.  Brandon is extremely appreciative of the support from the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria.

“It was really significant for me as far as being able to afford college,” he says.  “My parents were going to have three kids in school at one time, with a brother a year older than me and a sister two years behind me.  My scholarship relieved a big financial burden for myself and my family.”

Brandon began his career as retail buyer at Hecht’s, now known as Macy’s.  Four years ago, he joined Lockheed Martin, where he now works as a senior financial analyst at the Pentagon.  He is also enrolled at Georgetown University, where he expects to earn a Masters in Business Administration this May.
Brandon lives in Alexandria and passes on the gift of education to the next generation by tutoring students at Shiloh Baptist Church for the SAT and GMAT tests. Although spare time is hard to come by, he honors the encouragement that he received from T.C. track coach Mike Hughes by continuing to run.  Brandon hopes to give even more back to Alexandria by coaching a youth track team when he completes his M.B.A.
