Scholarships Change Lives…This Is How.
Thanks to YOUR financial support, Edom Tesfa, a 2014 T.C. Williams Graduate and Scholarship Fund Recipient, has gone on to do great things. And for this former Titan…the sky’s the limit. After graduating from T.C., Edom received a scholarship from SFA to help her through all four years at Georgetown University. She graduated from Georgetown with cum laude honors and a degree in Culture and Politics in 2018. Edom went on to pursue a Ph.D. in Education at prestigious Harvard University.
She is currently in her second year at Harvard. Looking back at how she felt receiving her scholarship, Edom said,
“The money I received from the SFA every year was crucial for my success in college. Thanks in part to the SFA scholarship I received, I was able to graduate from Georgetown with a 3.84 and departmental honors. The scholarship allowed me to focus on my coursework and research without worrying about how I was going to pay for college.”
Currently, Edom is working with a research team at the Harvard Graduate School of Education studying school climate for immigrant and refugee students in Portland, Maine.
We asked Edom if she had advice for students at T.C. Williams today thinking about college and applying for scholarships,
“College can be hard…but at Georgetown, I found faculty mentors and friends who believe in what I stand for and what I can do. These people are now some of my best friends. These people will lift you up. Go where they are, and amazing things can happen!”
We are so proud of all of our T.C. scholarship recipients who have gone on to do great things…and so grateful to all who give to support the scholarships that make their success possible.
