SFA’s Power of the Titans Raises Over 15k Toward Scholarships
With 29 days of steady online campaigning (September 21-October 19) and an in-person alumni Happy Hour at Chadwick’s on October 4, contributors to the SFA’s Power of the Titans fundraiser added $15,888.00 toward scholarships and postsecondary advising for our Alexandria City High School Titan seniors. The 2-hour celebration at Chadwicks alone netted 2k—thanks also to a percentage of proceeds from the food and beverage tab—and included a raffle of donated items and experiences from around Alexandria City including: two tickets to see Charles “Chip” Esten (Puskar), TCW Class of 1984, perform at the Birchmere November 11; the highly coveted authentic TCW Basketball Sidelines Chair; ACHS swag including four All Access Athletic passes; A Titan Alum Alexandria Package including a $100 gift card to Chadwicks, $25 gift card to Port City Brewing Company and beverages, Misha’s $20 gift card and donated coffee, and some SFA swag; some genuine Jameson spirits and brand-inspired donations; and a gift basket from Pure Romance, donated by Jennifer Summers, TCW Class of 2000 (won by none other than Chadwicks owner Trae Lamond, TCW Class of 1999).
Every dollar counted toward the original goal of 20k—a good stretch for the brand-new Power of the Titans campaign (formerly known as Clash of the Titans). Equally important, the number of contributions from longstanding supporters along with newer graduates is an encouraging sign that home-grown support will continue as each graduating class finds their way into supporting future Titans. All funds raised go directly to benefit ACHS seniors planning their postsecondary education.
Our thanks to those who attended the Alumni Happy Hour and all businesses and individuals who donated during the campaign. The SFA looks forward to seeing more new faces at the Alumni Happy Hour next year. The more we get together, the greater the support for scholarships.
