Power of the Titans

Brought to you by Alumni & Community Supporters like You!

The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria’s annual fall fundraiser Power of the Titans (formerly the Clash of the Titans) kicks off each fall in September and concludes in November—under seven rapid weeks. This collegial fundraiser is a great time to start a new scholarship for a graduating Titan’s career and college path. Last year’s Drive raised over $15,000, making college scholarships for even more Titans in the Class of 2024 possible. 100% of funds collected during each fall’s fundraiser go directly to support scholarships!

And—if you haven’t already heard—this year’s fundraiser is particularly special. The SFA annual award of $3,000.00 per needs-based recipient has been raised to awarding 25 of the industrious scholars with $5,000.00 per year for all four years. Each year, over 200 new recipients receive funding from the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria. We all recognize the rising costs of attending postsecondary institutions, converting a dream into reality, and helping students maintain their momentum toward their careers.

Alumni are encouraged to give and to encourage classmates to participate. Follow our FB page and IG Posts each fall and spread the word! You tell a friend and they tell a friend and so on and so on… it only takes 200 alumni giving $15.00 to raise a one-year scholarship OR just 240 alumni giving $50.00 to fund a 4-year renewable scholarship. That really is a super power.

All-Alumni Happy Hour

Wednesday, November 13th 2024, 6pm-8pm at CHADWICKS

Don’t miss catching up at the annual All-Alumni Happy Hour at CHADWICKS in Old Town. The owner, Trae Lamond, is an alum and a long-time supporter of the SFA. The annual fall event brings classmates from all years together under one uproarious roof, and there’s a raffle (more money to the scholarship, of course!) of donated items & experiences from the community.

Support the Class of 2024!

Having a class reunion? 1975, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, or 2020? How about a special donation in honor of your 50th or 5th graduation anniversary? Want to do something special for future grads? If you want this year to be a very meaningful one, the SFA can help you to raise funds to send today’s Titans to college. It’s fun and easy. Contact us if you’re willing to reach out to your old classmates. It’s a great way to reconnect with your classmates and raise money for deserving Titans who might otherwise not have the chance to attend college. Questions? Ideas? Email us at [email protected]!

Last year’s Power of the Titans raised $15,888 toward graduating Titans’ postsecondary dreams.

Why Support Scholarships Now?

In Alexandria City, the need for scholarships is truly profound—60% of Alexandria City Public School students live near the poverty level.

Each year the majority of our scholarships are awarded to students of color in Alexandria and more than half are awarded to students who are the first in their families to attend college.  As part of the nationwide movement to support racial equity, SFA recognizes that we can all do more.  We are looking for ways to create greater college access and even more scholarships for traditionally underrepresented students.

Simply put, there has never been a more important time to support college scholarships for Alexandria students in need than right now.

Thank you for your support.

Scholarships change lives forever.
