“I have always been a maker of things. I can’t stop. It’s too much fun.”

So says Vincent Colvin, award winning artist. With the help of the Bill Nichols Memorial Art Scholarship, Vincent followed in the footsteps of the artists in his family.  After receiving a B.F.A in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University, he went on to earn a M.F.A. degree in painting from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the same school attended by his great grandfather in 1906.

Since receiving his M.F.A., Vincent has explored many different career paths open to artists.  He has shown his work nationally in over 20 exhibits, most recently Elements: State of Matter at the DC Art Center, and the Newly Juried Artists Show at the Target Gallery in Alexandria.  At Atelier 6000’s exhibition in Bend, Oregon, Vincent received a Best in Show Award for his exhibition entitled Survey: Charts, Maps, Ledgers and Navigation.

Vincent has also worked to share his talent and love of art as an instructor at the Austin Museum of Fine Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Torpedo Factory, among others.  Additionally, he serves as an undergraduate senior admissions counselor at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art, where he reviews and critiques incoming student work for admission to the bachelor of fine arts program.
