Veronica Raugitinane 2011
“I always wanted a career where I was not stuck at a desk doing paperwork,” observed Veronica Raugitinane. Veronica’s love of sports and interest in health care led to her career in physical therapy. “My passion for sports, in particular soccer and field hockey, coupled with the many injuries that I have had, played a major role in seeking this career path. I had a great interest in how the body worked and healed itself since I had therapy myself on more than one occasion.”
Veronica came from a multicultural background – her mother was from El Salvador and her father from Thailand. She and her two sisters grew up in the Alexandria City Public Schools where they all attended Charles Barrett Elementary, George Washington Middle School and T.C. Williams..
Veronica and her sisters were all recipients of scholarships through the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria. Monica, TCW ’04, attended Virginia Tech and is currently Director of Communications at the Hispanic College Fund and Jessica, TCW ’09 is pursuing her bachelor’s degree at the University of Connecticut. Veronica received a B.S. degree in Kinesiology from Temple University, as well as a B.A. in Spanish from George Mason University. She earned her doctorate of Physical Therapy at George Washington University. While working on her degree, Veronica worked as an intern at several local practices. Now working at ED&A, an outpatient orthopedic private practice in Chevy Chase, Maryland, Veronica plans to pursue a residency in manual orthopedics and certification as an Orthopedic Certified Specialist.
Still active in sports, Veronica plays adult soccer in three different recreation leagues throughout the Washington metropolitan area. She lives in Alexandria and is expecting her first child, a girl, this spring.
