CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2020 Grand Prize Jack Taylor’s Alexandria Toyota Raffle Winner
LEE ANDERSON, 2011 Titan Alum & 4thGeneration Alexandrian
ALEXANDRIA, VA September 29, 2020 –– The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria (SFA) excitedly presented a $25,000 check, courtesy of Jack Taylor’s Alexandria Toyota, to Lee Anderson during a {c o n t a c t l e s s} ceremony on Lee and Katie Anderson’s Alexandria front porch. Lee was the winner of the SFA 2020 Jack Taylor Toyota Grand Prize VirtualRaffle. The winning ticket was drawn from among 750 tickets by Mayor Justin Wilson and his wife Titan alum Alex Crawford-Batt during the SFA Virtual Gala on May 30th.
Lee is a 2011 Titan graduate and the 4thgeneration in his family to graduate from the Alexandria City Public Schools system. He looks back on his time at TC with great fondness.
“Among my most fond memories were winning the State Championship with TC crew, traveling to the Stonesbury Regatta with the team, serving as editor of Theogony and participating in Herr Levine’s Austrian exchange trip – I’m still in touch with the Austrian friends I made on that trip,” Anderson recalled.
“Katie and I are proud to be supporters of the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria. It really helps students fulfill their promise,” Anderson stated. “Supporting SFA is one of the most important things Alexandria can do for its future generations. No student in Alexandria should graduate from high school with a fantastic high school education and then have to temper their educational aspirations because of a financial constraint,” Anderson added.
Proceeds from the raffle totaled nearly $75,000. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Jack Taylor and John Taylor and Jack Taylor’s Alexandria Toyota, all proceeds go directly to support college scholarships for Alexandria students with financial need. Each year, Jack Taylor offers to donate a brand new Toyota OR $25,000 to the winner. The proceeds from the raffle help send roughly 25 students to college each year.
Jack Taylor of Jack Taylor’s Alexandria Toyota, a supporter of SFA scholarships for more than 25 years, offered, “We are so proud to invest in these students and in the future of our community. There is no more important goal than helping to ensure that hard-working Alexandria students with financial need are able to attend college and go on to become successful. It’s an investment in these kids and an investment in Alexandria’s future and Jack Taylor’s Alexandria Toyota is grateful to play a role helping these terrific students.”
“We are incredibly grateful to Jack and John Taylor and Jack Taylor’s Alexandria Toyota for their continued generosity and their ongoing commitment to helping students with financial need in this community attend college and build a successful future,” said Beth Lovain, Executive Director of SFA.
“We are thrilled that the winner is a Titan alum, and notably a member of the Anderson family – a family with a longstanding commitment to supporting scholarships and also a commitment to education, public service and building community here in Alexandria,” Lovain continued. “Also, I think we are seeing the establishment of baby Jack’s college fund here with the awarding of this $25,000 grand prize. Congratulations to the Anderson family,” Lovain added.
