College & Career

We can help each step of the way—from getting you to college, through college, and helping you to pay for college.

The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing free postsecondary education advising to Alexandria City Public School families. The mission of the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria through its relationships within the community is to encourage and assist the students of Alexandria City Public Schools by providing them with the necessary resources to pursue a college, vocational or career program of postsecondary education.

Whether you are headed for a trade school, the military, a community college or a 4-year institution, we want to help you access all the resources you need and make decisions that suit you perfectly. Along with advising, every year we raise money with our community partners and individual donors to provide need-based scholarships for Alexandria City High School graduates to help fund postsecondary dreams. Since 1986, we have awarded $20 million in new and renewal scholarships.

SFA College & Career Advising

Our college advisers are available to meet with students and families in our offices at two of the Alexandria City High School campuses—King Street and Minnie Howard—all year round (including summer). We would be happy to assist you with anything from mapping out a college preparatory schedule in 9th grade, to editing college essays, completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and more. We also host evening programs throughout the school year and provide classroom presentations. Our doors are open to every student in Alexandria City High School and alumni, but we specifically seek to serve first-generation to college and lower-income families.
